Because I promised [info]major_zoidberg a week ago that I'd post pics of the infamous Stargate float I never mentioned here.

We have the technology )

We're doing a dry run with it in the Canada Day Parade on Wednesday on the North Shore, then after that, it's down to Point Roberts in the USA for the July 4th parade where David Hewlett is the Grand Marshall.

I think we've done an excellent job with it. Fingers crossed everything goes off without a hitch! I'll hopefully be bringing Carson (my camera) with me, so I will hopefully have time after it's all over to post some pics of the actual event. Oh yeah, and just for those curious, the gate is going to be attached to the middle of a van, to look like the van is going through the Stargate.

Now I'm officially going to sleep. Good night everyone, hope you have a pleasant day tomorrow :).

Ah, the White Rock bus driver. She was soooo funny. LOL.

So my mom came out to visit me last week. We went to a bunch of places I'd never been before and I took a lot of pictures!

And now the pretty! )

More photos to come later, as it's getting kind of late here.

I didn't do much today for my birthday, went to work, went to the mall with Jen, came home. We did the birthday thing on Friday after our travels to Lynn Canyon Park. Dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Gastown, and Jen hijacked my email to surprise me by inviting Mavis and her sister Janis to dinner. It was a very nice surprise :). There was also chocolate cake.

I have to work our 'not mandatory but you have to come in' team overtime tomorrow, ick. I'm now 'full-time' on the game, even though I've been on it full-time for like 4 weeks already! I also have to work 'team overtime' Thursday, Sunday, and 3 more days next week. Doesn't that sound super fun! :S

After not being selected during the Phase 1 lottery for 2010 Olympic tickets, I am now the proud owner of 3 2010 TICKETS!! :D.

I waited in the 'virtual waiting room' for close to 50 minutes, before finally getting access to the site. I got pretty much everything I wanted, except speed skating because they only had the $150 class A tickets left for those. Oh well. The tickets I got were for the following:

-Ladies' Halfpipe Snowboarding Qualification/Finals
-Men's Aerials Freestyle Skiing Finals
-Men's Paralle Downhill Slalom Snowboarding Qualification/Finals

I might have done Hockey or Figure Skating, but even the cheap seats for those are over $100 each. I spend $232 and got 3 tickets. I'm happy! :D

Phase 2 tickets started this morning at 10am PST, and I believe it goes until some time tomorrow, for anyone else on my flist who wanted to go to the 2010 games and thought all hope of getting tickets was lost. Hurry though, tickets won't last forever. They do have tickets still available for all events.

Ugh, my 8am flight is already delayed 2.5 hours to 10:30. So instead of arriving in Toronto at 3:30, it's not going to be until after 6pm. And that's if it's not delayed any further! A lot can happen in another 5.5 hours. Grrr. It's always nice to see the big red 'WINTER STORM' warning on the top of the weather page for both the city you're leaving, and the one you're going to be landing in /sarcasm. Supposedly metro Vancouver, and the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) are going to see upwards of 15cm more snow during the day.

Wish me luck that I'll eventually get out of BC today!

Question to all my CSI watching flist. This may sound odd, but does anyone know what the opening and closing credit music is for the Las Vegas Pilot? It's not 'The Who' music used for the rest of the series. My sister is doing a tv music project on CSI and has hit a wall trying to find out what the music is. If anyone knows what it is or who it's by, that would be most awesome! Thanks.

[info]finnstardust and [info]suzotchka1 your cards have arrived! Thanks girls! *hugs*

Now for my entertainment of the day so far. Walked past a movie set this morning. Homer Street by the Vancouver Public Library has been transformed into somewhere in the US, with yellow taxi cabs, signs that say things like "No horn blowing at any time except emergency", and cute little blue US postal mailboxes. I saw them yesterday setting up the fake light standards and green fencing, and they had the fake street signs sitting in the truck. Today I go by and it's so cool! American Flag and everything hanging from 'The Centre' (it's across from the VPL). And of course, I have no camera so can put up no pics because I never bring it with me even though I know I always should. When I walked by they hadn't blocked off the street, and you were still allowed to wander along the sidewalk right past it. So cool. I think it's for the movie "Personal Effects", they were shooting at the library last week as well and it looks like the same trucks etc. Maybe they'll be back tomorrow ... I think I might just bring my camera with me anyways, you never know what you'll see around here, I swear.

Ooh AND apparently they were filming some of the X-Files movie somewhere downtown yesterday, and I was like a 2 blocks away! *headdesk* There's some sneak peek footage of it somewhere, I'll find the link and post it here if anyone is interested.

Edit: Ooh and I forgot to mention the fake construction workers standing around the fake manhole cover which had fake steam coming out of it. I know it's fake as I saw them setting it up yesterday :P. I think I found that to be funniest. lol.

Edit2: XF2 Footage can be found here Sneak Peek. It's not fantastic as it was filmed from a bit away, but I say it still looks cool! No idea on sound, my comp at work has no speakers!

Ok, the play turned out to actually be quite hilarious. Paul was great. I recognized the other guy and the producer, but don't ask for the life of me from where.

Reservations for Four )

I really loved it. Such a small place, we kinda walked right by then had to walk through a restaurant to the back to pick up our tickets and wait to be let into the room with 3 rows of seats (we sat in the front!). It was fun, and there was lots and lots of laughing! :D

What the Frak? I mean seriously, what the hell kind of mid-season finale was that!?!? Worst. one. ever. Not even a freakin' cliffhanger. Do they seriously NOT want people to want to come back for the second half?? Spoilers and more ranting )

I just can't think of anything positive to say about this episode right now. For all the excitement I had waiting for it to air, it just fell flat. And now that it's over, I feel empty.

Just watched the promo for 'Miller's Crossing'. And aside from the fact that I really wish they'd stop using Tapping to introduce all of them (what's wrong with Flanigan or Hewlett? Seriously!), I actually found it to be rather funny.

Cut for possible spoilerish musings )

Can not wait for next week's Bones! Squee! Finally! Though, to get all excited could lead to getting ones hopes up, but from the commercial ... SQUEE! I swear if they're just teasing us I might have to hurt them ;).

Cut for Bones and House spoilers )

I'm thinking of buying a new external harddrive. Right now I'm looking at this one. My sister is going to buy my 250GB off me for $100, so it'll only cost me $170 + tax for this nice shiny 750GB one :D.

I finished reading 'Casualties of War' a few days ago. Loved it! Excellent Negotiator!Lizzie in it, and some Sparky! YAY!

Saw the TMC Sparky pics and just finished watching the vid on mgm.com with the John/Lizzie bit. *sigh* I love seeing those two together. Why did TPTB have to go and repli-tize poor Elizabeth.

Oh and my amusement for the day. On the skytrain home there was this guy telling his friend that if he goes to swear around his son he's going to say 'Frak' because if his kid picks up on anything it won't be a real word, and is better than him saying actual swear words. Too funny.

Now I'm going to eat dinner and watch Heroes from last night before I do anything else online (like help try to repopulate the Sparky thread at GW).

First off, I'm now on Facebook so feel free to add me or whatever it is you do with that thing ;). Still have to figure out how stuff on there works, lol.

Now so that [info]major_zoidberg doesn't strike anymore, here are some pics from NY and the Con.

First up are the Paul McGillion Con Pics: )

Here's my Paul autograph, complete with the 'To Hot Amie' on it :P. It's kinda big so I've put it behind a cut here )

And now onto the NY Pics )

So now I'm deciding what I want to do today. I'm thinking I might go see a movie. Though it's really windy and really rainy outside and I don't know if I feel like going out in it. Since I woke up this morning and it was only 15C in my apartment, I've decided it might be good to turn on the heat. Now I just have to wait and see if it actually works.

Headed off to NY tomorrow, will be back on Monday with Suz and Alicia!! My sister is super excited to be meeting up with us in NY and getting to see Paul at the Con Saturday :D. Should be lots of fun!!

Already got my boarding passes printed off, got stuff set out to toss into my bag tonight. Alarms have been set for far too early than normal people should be getting up. Excellent!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Fireworks for Halloween? Did I just enter some bizarre sector of the Twilight Zone? Out my window I can see at least 5 separate sets of fireworks going off. All I can do is laugh, because it's just so weird! No fireworks for May 24, but fireworks for Halloween ... I will never understand some of the stuff that happens out here.

I've figured out why it doesn't seem like Halloween (besides the random fireworks). There are almost no jack-o-lanterns, at least near my apartment. Not to mention the full blown Christmas decorations at the Bay downtown - even have christmas trees on the outside as well as the in. Let Halloween be over before puttin up the Christmas stuff, it's just too weird!

Also want to say a belated Happy Birthday to [info]gooner_ette. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to say it before now. I hope you had a great day and did a lot of fun stuff :D.

Haha! Just heard a news update about police being out to stop illegal fireworks! Gee I think they need to send a few over this way, lol.

My sister Jen hates me now because ...

I SAW TOM WELLING FROM THE SKYTRAIN!!!

Hehe. I'm not a huge Smallville fan, but it's my first celeb sighting since I've been here, which makes it very cool :). Jen is like seriously the biggest Smallville fan ever, so now she's really mad at me that I saw him and she didn't lol. She's so cute! It's not like I was looking for him, I was coming home from Walmart on the skytrain which just happens to go over one of their studios (the 'Smallville' trucks are a dead give away. lol) where they just happened to be filming and he just happened to be standing there (in complete wardrobe) shooting a scene :D. Perfect end to a beautiful sunny day :).

I bought an airbed while I was at Walmart this evening for Suz/Alicia to use, whomever doesn't take the futon (are we going to have to do rock, paper, scissors girls?;)). And then I'll also have it for when my sisters and my mom come to visit me in February.

Got into the office this morning, and apparently we have a big leak... well rather a large hole in our ceiling/the roof. This led to a nice giant puddle near one of the guys desks, so there were people in measuring and up on the roof doing something to fix it, I hope. Water + computers = not good. We've got another leak (which isn't a hole yet) that drips water onto one of our junction boxes, which is also Not Good. Hopefully it's fixed soon and they don't come in and make lots of noise in the process.

Email notifications seem like they're working again, just got one. Fingers crossed the problem is finally fixed! :)

I've fixed my LJ *YAY*. The CSS script width settings were being overwritten by the Flexible Squares default layout, why the hell that was happening, I don't know. But I have fixed it, and that is all that matters to me :). I've also added a new 'see no evil/speak no evil' Sparky header, though I think it ended up kinda big (well really BIG), but I'm too lazy right now to go and make it smaller. lol.

I watched this stupid show today *don't ask me why* called 'Don't Forget the Lyrics'. For a game show, it was weird. Like 'Who Wants to be A Millionaire crossed with American Idol and something else' weird. lol. So bizarre.

I think my new Torri!NCIS icon is funny. Why I thought up to put sparks coming out of a scalpel, is a mystery. Lol. But it does kinda look like she's holding a wand, maybe sorta? My mind is messed up, I know ;).

And now I leave you with a few pretty pics I took early in the morning last weekend. The sky was so cool looking when I woke up by accident at 6:30am on a Saturday, so I figured make the most of it and take some pics ;). And it wasn't raining, so I was happy :).

Pretty pics )
